Autism-Focused Classrooms

Our program for children with autism is tailored to meet the individual needs of each of our students. Most of our students have challenges with unsafe behaviors, acting out in class, and inappropriate ways of meeting their sensory needs. OCA uses many strategies that are supported by Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to help teach students to appropriately express their needs and to use alternative coping skills to decrease behavioral issues. Some of our strategies include, but are not limited to, the use of sensory tools in and outside the classroom, frequent breaks, the use of visual communication tools to increase both the student’s receptive and expressive language, and the use of data to determine the need for reinforcing, fading, and extinction strategies.

OCA has seen much success from students who have been in this program and continues to strive to aid students in successfully transitioning back to their home districts.
